4) I’m going to return to comment 1. Food quality should always be your concern. My wife and eye had one of our first meals at Yamato and Yamato has a special place in our hearts. I’ll always come back even when I feel mistreated. We’ve come to know some of the wait staff over the years. And even though they may not know us well, we recognize them, always say hello and nice to see you, and always tip them well. Food quality was low last time. If 2-3hrs before closing is too late, and that’s why it was bad, just be honest with customers. Not all customers will keep coming back. Maybe we’re fools for coming back, but I’m hopeful you can change for the better. Take care Yamato. We hope to see you under better circumstances very soon. We always come twice in October for my wife’s birthday and then my spooky sushi-eve night near Halloween. Cheers.

3) what happened to the lovely Yamato we used to know? 1-2yrs of Covid has been tough, but there were more than 8 solid years before that were great. Also now business seems fine and pricing has increased by ~30%, which seems fair. Despite all that, the restaurant is looking rough. The tables need to be refinished. The chairs too. The rug replaced. Paint the wood paneling. The ceiling did get replaced. The bathrooms and the restaurant used to all look so wonderful, but now it’s gotten really shabby. That doesn’t really stop me from coming back. I’ve been back plenty and I plan to come again, but the owner should consider some light renovation work in phases so business is not interrupted too much.

2) the website shows the restaurant hours but it should say last order is 1 hour before closing and it should also say last seating is 2 hours before closing, because realistically the staff don’t seem ready to serve in the last 2-3hrs. We totally understand that. The restaurant business is hard and the staff work hard. That’s why they always get a solid good tip from us. You should just change your hours to end 2-3hr before they do currently and seat people right until the posted closing time. Then you’d know the restaurant doesn’t actually close for another hour or two after the posted hours.

Hi there. I feel like you will not reply, because you don’t really have any method of taking customer feedback, which is too bad. I’m still going to leave a comment, because I e been going to Yamato for over 10 years and even when I’ve had a bad experience, I have always tipped the wait staff well and come back, so I feel it’s ok to let you know some things about my last experience that I was not happy about. 1) When customers come towards the end of the open hours, you should still serve them as you would daytime customers. We placed orders on the little papers that did not get filled. For example, 8 order sashimi salmon is 16 pieces, but 4-6 little pieces showed up. 1 order squid never showed up. No sea bass. Etc etc etc. Yes, it was towards the end of the day, but it was still 2 full hours before closing and customers were still being allowed to sit. We were really disappointed.

we had this place for lunch, its likely one of the better sushi buffets as its made to order. that part is great, and you can order more than just sushi which was also fantastic. the quality of the salmon was great, some of the other fish was just ok. i would prefer going to genki ya in this area or even fins, but the all you can eat deal is fantastic. they have good gyoza's and great crab rangoon.i would go back, as you can order stuff you enjoy on repeat, probably not the best place to try something new as you pay for what you don't eat.i left full!

this place is great to go with people in a big group. You not only get to choose from sushi but also other items like udon, gyoza and other yummy appetizers. There is plenty of free parking, and is close to the green line. If you're a sushi lover like me you're going to want to check this place out..spicy tuna rolls are awesome here

The first time I tried to eat at Yamato I arrived an hour before their posted closing time and they turned us away saying it was too late. I should've taken the hint and never returned but a few months later I decided to give them another shot. I ordered the AYCES and selected (from what I can remember) two 1-piece, two 2-piece and a hand roll from the sushi selection along with pork katsu and crab rangoon. The rangoon arrived and was nothing special whatsoever. Next was the katsu and it was alright, nothing I would complain about nor something I would order twice. Next came my plate of sushi. On the plate was my eel hand roll and three 6-piece rolls, none of which I ordered. There was a salmon roll, cucumber roll and a shrimp/avocado roll. There was fine print on the bottom of the menu saying something about being sorry if they're out of what you may have selected so I figured they must have ran out of the things I ordered and replaced them with what they thought to be a good substitute. If this was the case, they would have failed miserably. These rolls were far from what I ordered. I'm not one to complain so I ate what they brought except for the cucumber roll. I know they charge for the items you don't finish so I decided if they tried to charge me for that, then I would bring up that my sushi order was almost completely wrong. Then I noticed the recently-seated couple next to us receive their plates, which contained things that I had ordered (salmon roe, sweet egg etc). I don't know if it was an honest mistake or they were trying to rip me off because they either thought I wouldn't notice or wouldn't complain but either way it cost me $22. On top of that, the wait staff was extremely unfriendly. I paid the bill withOUT a tip, left and will never be returning even though it's a mere block away from my house.

The sushi is pretty good for an all you can eat place. Service is ok. We have been a couple of times and gotten the all you can eat deal. It's good if you are a big eater but I dont think it's worth it otherwise. They charge a dollar more for some specialty rolls.

They no longer take reservations unless it is a large party. Expect a wait during peak dinner hours. They do a great job with large groups. Just ask to split the table up into a few groups, so the orders come out smoothly. What they lack in quality, they make up for it in quantity. This is a dream for a lazy person. Order everything your heart desires and have it all brought over to your table. Just make sure to finish everything you order.Their fried rice is actually pretty good. Love any of the katsu choices (Panko-covered and deep fried cutlets). Can't go wrong with inari (fried tofu skin), spicy tuna/salmon, unagi (eel), spider roll, hand rolls, and sashimi (love the fatty tuna). Save room for dessert (included if it's dinner). Fried ice cream? Yes please.

Grabbed the all you can eat sushi here a couple times. Pretty good bargain if you're hungry. The sushi quality is average, but what can you can expect from an all you can eat place. They charge you a little extra if you get the specialty rolls and there is a threat of extra charge if you don't finish. You can also grab appetizers and some entrees which are also slightly above average in taste. Decent bang for your buck.

The key advantage of Yamato is its All You Can Eat sushi option. This is a fantastic idea and gives you the chance to try out rolls that you have never had before. I don't understand how prior reviews can say there is a lack of choice - there is PLENTY to choose from. The atmosphere is casual, so it might not be a great destination for a romantic date, but for a casual dinner between friends, it's great.Along with hot sake, beer and wine, you really can't ask for much more.

I would not give it any stars if I can. It's 15.99 for lunch and over 20 for dinner but yet their selection is quite small.Especially for lunch, it's 15.99 without sashimi, all the other AYCE I've been to includes it.Services is horrible, it's actually kind of awkward because they are so rude to you and they don't understand you.For that money, I'm not coming back

Best sushi buffet I ever had in Boston! Although the service could be a bit more passionate. That's why it's not a 5 star review.

As a west coast girl, I sorely miss the type of cheap and delicious AYCE joints. Thankfully Yamato is there to tide me over. There's a great selection of rolls, everything is delivered at a great speed, and attentive servers that try hard to clear off tables before the next set arrives. The dinner price is a bit steep, but I wouldn't complain much. The only caveat was that the sashimi selection for AYCE was quite limited, but that is to be expected. I can't imagine coming on a weekend, as it was packed to the brim on a Tuesday night full of HBS students and Asian families that said no more than 3 words over the course of the meal.
